A clean roller blind install takes about 30 minutes per window. Use the steps below and you'll get a level, smooth-operating blind every time.
Difficulty: Moderate (DIY-friendly). Time required: 30–45 minutes per window.
Prepare your tools: Drill with wood + masonry bits, spirit level, pencil, screwdriver, tape measure and wall plugs (if installing into masonry).
Mark bracket positions: Using your measurements, mark bracket locations with a pencil. For inside mounts, position brackets near the top of the recess, equidistant from the edges. For outside mounts, extend 75–100 mm beyond the window.
Check level: Use a spirit level to ensure your pencil marks are perfectly horizontal. Uneven brackets will cause the blind to bind or drift.
Pre-drill pilot holes: Pre-drill using a 2 mm bit. This prevents splitting and ensures clean, secure screw placement.
Secure brackets: Attach brackets to the window frame (inside) or wall (outside) using the supplied screws. For masonry, use appropriate wall plugs.
Insert the blind: Slide the pin end into the pin-end bracket; slide the chain or motor end into the matching bracket. The roller should sit firmly without play.
Test operation: Raise and lower the blind several times to confirm smooth operation. If it binds, adjust bracket position by a few millimetres.
Secure control cords: Attach any chain or cord to the supplied child-safety anchor. Never leave cords loose or within reach of children.
Wear safety glasses when drilling. Pre-drill all holes. Use a level — uneven installation will affect operation. Always anchor child-safety cords. If your window has awkward angles or obstructions, contact us for professional installation.
Yes — most homeowners with a drill and a level can fit a roller blind in under an hour per window.
Shim behind one bracket with a thin offcut to bring the headrail to level.
Only if you're drilling into masonry, plaster or hollow walls. Direct screw into timber frames.
