Roller Shades Complete Guide

Everything you need to know about custom roller shades — from measuring and fabric selection to motorization and installation.

Roller shades offer a clean, modern look with simple operation. They roll up neatly at the top of the window, making them perfect for minimalist interiors. Available in a wide range of fabrics from sheer to blackout, roller shades provide versatile light control and privacy options for any room.

Accurate measurements are essential for a perfect fit. Follow these guidelines to ensure your roller shades fit your windows precisely.

Inside mount installations sit within the window frame, creating a clean, built-in look.

Width: Measure across the top, middle, and bottom of the window opening. Use the narrowest measurement to the nearest 1/8".

Height: Measure the left, center, and right sides. Use the shortest measurement to the nearest 1/8".

Outside mount installations are mounted on the wall or window molding above the frame.

Width: Measure the total width you want to cover. We recommend overlapping the window opening by at least 1.5" on each side (3" total).

Height: Measure from where the top of the shade will be to where you want the bottom to reach.
