How to Measure Double Roller Blinds

Double rollers stack a blockout fabric and a light-filtering or sheer fabric on the same window. They need a touch more clearance than a single roller — here's how to nail it.

Inside Mount: If your window width is less than 1200 mm, use a single set of double-roller brackets. For wider windows, split the measurement into two separate double blinds. Measure full width, divide by two, and leave roughly 5 mm gap between mechanisms for clearance.

Height Measurement: Measure the full drop you want from the top of the recess to the sill. Both rollers will be cut to this height. Front (top) is usually your blockout; back is your sheer or light-filter.

Face Fix Considerations: If face-fixing on the wall, extend your measurement beyond the window frame by 75–100 mm on each side. Confirm the wall is flat and clear of obstructions for at least 100 mm above the window.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have just blockout on one window and sheer on another?

Yes — double rollers are configured per opening. You can do blockout-only on bedrooms and double on living areas.

Why split a wide window into two blinds?

Anything past 2400 mm gets heavy and the chain effort climbs. Two narrower units look cleaner and last longer.

Which fabric goes in front?

Blockout in front (closest to the room), sheer behind. That keeps the sheer protected and lets you layer light beautifully.

Do I need extra depth for double rollers?

Yes — plan for 90 mm of recess depth to fit both tubes and brackets without rubbing.
